Green Juris Joins Hearts & Paws for Cat Week Celebration

Green Juris proudly partnered with Ateneo de Davao Legal Advocacy Works (ADDLAW) in the celebration of Cat Week at Ateneo de Davao University last November 21-27, 2024. This collaboration showcased our shared commitment to fostering responsible pet ownership and advocating for animal rights as an essential facet of environmental protection.

As part of the week-long festivities, ADDLAW hosted “Hearts & Paws: Adoption Drive,” an event designed to connect adoptable pets with loving homes while raising awareness about the importance of humane treatment and responsible care for animals. Green Juris actively supported the drive by inviting attendees and assisting during the event, ensuring its smooth execution. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to event organizer Stephanie Sabio and ADDLAW President Rikka Reyes for their leadership and dedication.

Another highlight of the week was Cattogenic 2024: Cat Photo Contest for a Cause, hosted on Facebook. With 20 adorable entries from across the Philippines, the contest not only delighted cat lovers but also raised significant funds for CATeneo, a socio-civic organization dedicated to the welfare of AdDU campus cats. 

The contest also promoted awareness about the Animal Welfare Act (RA 8485 as amended by RA 10631), reminding everyone that cruelty to animals is a punishable crime and encouraging individuals to report violations through proper channels.

The funds raised were used to donate assorted cat food and monetary aid to CATeneo. 

Green Juris remains steadfast in its mission to protect the environment, recognizing that this includes standing up for animal rights. 

By participating in initiatives like Cat Week, we reaffirm our commitment to creating a compassionate and sustainable future where both humans and animals thrive. Together, we can build a community that respects life in all its forms, ensuring justice for those who cannot speak for themselves.

Green Juris President Achassi Biay personally handed over the donation to CATeneo founder Heart Gacayan, marking a meaningful conclusion to this advocacy-driven celebration.
