On Sunday, August 18, Green Juris embarked on a meaningful tree-planting activity at the Tamugan Watershed in Marilog District. The bus, filled with enthusiastic EcoKnights, departed from the city at 8:15 AM for a scenic one-hour drive to the planting site. With a permit secured from Barangay Wines and under the watchful guidance of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources – Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (DENR-CENRO), represented by Mr. Jason and Mr. Rene, the event was set to make a lasting impact.

Upon arrival, the team was warmly welcomed by Bantay Bukid, a local environmental protection group. Led by Mr. Juan, Bantay Bukid conducted a thorough briefing on the protocols for the day. With nothing but bare hands and determination in their hearts, the EcoKnights began planting approximately 150 Malibago seedlings, a tree species known for its excellent water retention and soil stabilization properties.

The tree planting was more than just an environmental activity; it was a collaborative effort that brought together law students, environmentalists, and community members, all working towards a common goal of preserving and enhancing the natural environment. The activity concluded with a hearty lunch shared by the Green Juris team and the Bantay Bukid guides, celebrating the successful planting of seedlings that will grow to protect the watershed for generations to come.

The team returned to Ateneo de Davao University at 12:30 PM, carrying with them not only the satisfaction of a job well done but also the support of the broader Ateneo de Davao University College of Law community. Green Juris extends its deepest gratitude to Dean Manny P. Quibod for his unwavering support, making initiatives like these possible and impactful.

This tree planting is just one of the many steps Green Juris is taking to make a tangible difference in our environment, proving that when legal minds and environmental hearts unite, we can truly cultivate a better future.
